Oh-My-Gah

OMG! Honestly I am at a lost for words right now, I feel so incredibly sick to my stomach. I was on Yahoo checking out the news when I noticed a heading which said that "Nadal Loses in the 4th Round at French Open". I had been out to breakfast with my family this morning so I didn't have the opportunity to watch the match. When I read that I was completely shocked, my mouth dropped open and I just sat their staring at the computer screen for a full minute. I still am in a state of shock, I really don't know what to say, Nadal is my all time favourite tennis player and I was so hoping that he would win the French Open. The only other time that I felt like I was going to cry while watching a sporting event was this summer during the Olympics. It was during the men's swimming 100-meter butterfly while watching Michael Phelps swim. This is the race where he beat his competitor by 1/100 of a second. When I watched that race I felt so sick to my stomach, I actually got tears in my eyes, I wanted him to win so bad, thank goodness he did, I don't know what I would have done if he lost! So please excuse me while I go and have a good little cry about this for Nadal...

P.S. Does anyone get the reference in my title? Its a classic line from Will and Grace said by Jack (who is one of my favourite TV characters ever! haha...) and totally appropriate for how I feel right now.

Look At What I Found!

I just discovered an amazing website for people who love to read. It is called goodreads.com and its the perfect website for a book addict like me. I am always constantly strolling the web looking for quotes from my favourite books and this website always has a good selection of quotes from all sorts of books. Goodreads also has lists of the top books of the week, month and year in every genre which I have found to be rather helpful when looking for a new book to read. So hurry up, and check out Goodreads... I promise you wont be disappointed!

P.S. Picture is from one of my all time favourite movies, Pride and Prejudice, which is also one of my favourite books as well. I mean who doesn't love the witty Elizabeth and the proud Mr. Darcy?

In Bloom

All my life I have tried to pluck a thistle and plant a flower wherever the flower would grow in thought and mind. ~ Abraham Lincoln
Lovely quote by one of my favourite presidents, Honest Abe, and pictures by moi. I took both photographs sometime last year. I quite like the last photograph because the colours of the flowers look beautiful with the painting which is resting behind it (done by my artistic sister, its a reproduction of the famous waterlilies which she had to do for an art class).
The school year is not even over yet and I am already getting homework for next year! I have to read five books for my English classes for next year plus do several assignments which go alongside the books. I signed up for Expressive Writing (have to read On Writing by Stephen King), Public Speaking (read a book on a subject which fascinates us), Media (1984... yuck!), and AP (Martin Dressler: The Tale of an American Dreamer, as well as a free read book of our choice). I know I really shouldn't be complaining since it is summer work... but really? I suppose I also knew what I was getting into when I signed up for four English classes, but what can I say, I love English! Any suggestions about what to read for Public Speaking or AP?

Lets Go Boating

Just a quicky post for today. We went to my sisters rowing race today, she did sooo.... well! Her boat came in second place, which is good, she got a medal. Then after the race we went on my Auntie Cindy and Uncle Paul's boat for a bit. It was so nice out, the perfect boating weather; just so sunny out and summer like. I can't wait until I am out of school, though my summers going to be just as busy. Hope every one's having a majorly fantastic memorial day weekend... I sure know that I am!

Winning Inspiration

Jane Berkin

Oh dear. I really have been a bad girl, I've neglected this blog for about a week, I am so sorry. I mean it to, although I really don't have any excuse for it though since I haven't had much homework at all and nothing to do except go to Physical Therapy. I just love the above picture of Jane Berkin, doesn't she look so elegant and dainty? This is my inspiration for today, perhaps I can look at this picture in the hopes that I won't be so clumsy and become more graceful (yeah right, like that would ever happen)!

Now, I know that the whole world (well okay, just America) is buzzing about the winner of American Idol but I can't resist adding my own two cent's into the mix. I was rather pleased with the outcome of the results, seeing as Kris Allen won. Out of the whole season, Kris, is the person I am most likely to have on my ipod therefore I was thrilled that he won, plus he is rather nice to look at, no? Though I thought that Adam was amazing as well, so it didn't really matter to me who won, I would have been happy with either of them. What do you think about Kris winning?

Hrithik and Music

I have been spending all my time lately on Youtube watching Bollywood videos and during this time I've discovered Hrithik Roshan. I suppose anyone who knows anything about Bollywood has herd of Hrithik, but I have only just learned about him, I'm new to the scene! I fully understand why everyone in India is completely gaga for him, he's such a heartthrob! If you ever have the chance look up some of his movies on Youtube, he is so much fun to watch! I have also been listening to a lot of songs from Bollywood movies and I have discovered some of my new favourite tunes. I really love the song's "Saawariya" from the movie of the same title, "Woh Ajnabee" from Train, "Ab to Forever" from Ta Ra Rum Pum. If you get the chance... look them up, they are just amazing!
Namaste,

Geeky Dreamboats and Cheeseburger Phones

As far as boyfriends go, Paulie Bleeker is totally boss. He is the cheese to my macaroni.
~Juno~
I have something to profess (any of my friends reading this, you wont be shocked since you already know this)... I love Daniel Radcliffe. I used to have this massive thing for him, ever since the first Harry Potter movie, now its more like a soft spot for him since my love for him has cooled down quite a bit. Though I will admit whenever I see an interview with him, I stop dead in my tracks and take the time to read or watch the interview (quite frankly, that sounds kinda creepy actually...). I found this picture on FredFlare.com and couldn't resist showing it to you, its from the book Geeky Dreamboats, it made me smile.
Ever since Juno came out last year I have wanted a Cheeseburger phone, their so rad! I found it on FredFlare, its only 26 dollars. I so want to be like "Hello, this is Jem, I'm on my Cheeseburger Phone, whats up?"... that would be so awesome!

Oh Those Royals...

King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck
of Bhutan

Andrea Casiraghi of Monaco

I found these Photographs on Vanity Fair's website and I thought I would share them with you. I just love both photographs in different ways. The first one is so colorful and shows the tradition of Bhutan so well. I have always wanted to go to Bhutan it seems like such a peaceful country. I admire King Jigme and his father, the old king, greatly for genitally easing their country into democracy well still marinating there country's history, that is a hard thing to do ( I mean look at all the countries which failed...)! The second one is of Andrea Casiraghi, prince of Monaco. I just love the lighting of this picture, plus he is rather good looking isn't he? I want to go to Monaco as well, it seems so amazing! I find that it is the "smaller" "lesser known" countries that I wish to travel to, in order to really see and understand the culture. Enjoy the Photographs... I know I sure do!

Sunnies

Now that summer is coming its time to think about how your going to protect yourself from the suns glare and still look fashionable. I always break my sunglasses quite easily, therefore as a rule I never invest more then twenty dollars in a pair of sunnies. I love these sunnies from Forever 21, they are all under ten dollars! They had lots more sunglasses on their site which I loved but I didn't want to go overboard with the amount which I showed on here. I have a pair of black wayfares but I am thinking that it would be lots of fun to get a pair of "crazy" colored sunnies. It would be fun to wear a pair of sunnies which are not your typical colored sunglasses, especially to concerts and around town. I would love to see if people react to me wearing brightly colored sunnies. Now which one should I get?
Jem
P.S. Have you told your mother how much you love her? If not, go do so since its mothers day! Happy Mothers day to all those special mom's out there!

Castle's In The Air

"i've got the key to my castle in the air,
but whether i can unlock the door remains to be seen"
~little women

For some reason every time I see or think about this quote from one of my favorite books from my childhood it makes me think. It always makes me wonder what my "castle in the air" is. Doesn't everyone have a castle in the air which they are trying to unlock? And if you do succeed in unlocking it, what do you do once you have discovered that you unlocked your "castle"? Ahh... questions, they sure make me think!
Jem
P.S. I know I've already shown this photograph on here but I couldn't resist showing it again since i feel as though it fits perfectly with today's quote.

Out Of Africa

Keira Knightley in the June 2007 issue of Vogue
This is one of my absolute all time favorite spreads in Vogue featuring the amazing Keira Knightley. I loved Keira as the kick ace heroine in the pirates movie but even more so as my favorite literary heroine; Elizabeth Bennet. I just love the period pieces which they used during this shoot it has such a romantic aspect to it. Which is what I suppose they ("they" being the editors at Vogue) were trying to achieve. Africa has always appeared as a romantic faraway place for many to someday visit. I think everyone has their version of a romantic faraway place which they long to travel to, for me its India, for others its Africa, but its the place where we feel connected to, even if we never set foot on its soil. It is that connection which draws us to anything related to the place which is in our dreams; so for me that means, eating lots of Indian food (which I had for dinner tonight, yum!), reading all the books I can on India, and seeing lots of movies where the setting features Indian culture. For others it may be different, but I see my romantic faraway place as the somewhere in which you go to discover yourself. What are your thoughts on the matter?

School's Out Forever... (I Wish!)

Just a quick and brief post today since I am wicked tired and heading off to bed. I am so happy and relieved to be done with my two exams... I feel as though a weight has been lifted off my shoulders! Now its time to slack off for the rest of the year having made it through hell week (just kidding... I plan on still doing my homework for the rest of the year, don't worry)! I hope your having a lovely Friday, my afternoon and evening was spent going to physical therapy and then watching movies rented from netflix's. Tomorrow shall probably just be a relaxing day spent at home since my sister has a crew race all day and most likely on Sunday as well. Not that I don't mind, since sometimes a quite weekend is the best thing to have after a stressful week! Enjoy your weekend.

You Drive Me Crazyyyy....

This week is shaping up to be quite a busy one, and its only Monday! I must apologize in advance for the sporadic blogging post over the next few days since I have a lot on my plate which I have to deal with. I am suppose to be studying for my English and United States History exams but I though I would take a few minutes to blog. I have exams on Thursday and Friday and then I am done with the dreaded Exams! Well, until June then I have to take a few more exams too, yuck! The picture is one which I took looking through an empty cup at my giant Micheal Phelps cut out (yes, I have a Phelps cut out, and yes, I am a crazy fan!haha...). I thought I would just leave you with this interesting image... that way you have something to look at!
Jem
P.S. Does anyone get the Britney Spears reference at all in my title or post? haha... such an old 90's song.

Lost In Austen

"Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously.... Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we would have others think of us."
(I love this quote!)
~Pride and Prejudice~
Tonight I settled down on my couch for a nice night in of watching a dvd, with a blanket and a bowl of pasta in order to watch the movie which I had netflixed. I ordered the ITV production of Lost In Austen which originally aired in England. I had herd various things about this mini series and so being a fan of Jane Austen I felt it my duty to check out what all the hubbub was about. At first I was a little skeptical about this version of Pride and Prejudice seeing as the protagonist was not Elizabeth Bennet, but Amanda Price, and modern girl from London. Amanda and Elizabeth sort of switch places, Amanda ends up in the pages of her favorite novel and Lizzy in the "real" world. Since Amanda knows what happens in the novel she tries to get everyone to end up with the right person but the story does not exactly follow the original plot. The series stars Jemima Rooper as Amanda and Elliot Cowan as the famed and much beloved Mr. Darcy. One of my favorite scenes in the mini series was when Amanda asked Mr. Darcy if he would go in the fountain, just like Colin Firth did in the BBC version of the novel! I thought their was something just so sweet and funny about that whole scene (as you can see I included a picture from the scene for your viewing pleasure). I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked the show, seeing as the plot differed in many ways then the novel. So if you get the chance I would definitely recommend watching Lost In Austen... If only just to see the good looking Elliot Cowan play Mr. Darcy!
