This post is dedicated to a really serious issue concerning the photograph above. This photograph was featured in a fourteen page spread in French Vogue. This could be considered a really beautiful photograph, but I consider it to be one of the ugliest photographs I've ever laid eyes on. You see the model in the picture is Lara Stone, who is white, portraying a black women. I find this image highly offensive and disturbing. To make matters worse the spread was featured in French Vogue's "women of colour issue", yet nowhere in the magazine was their women of colour. This has definitely changed my outlook on French Vogue, which I used to hold to high regard. You would think in this day and age people would know that something like this is socially unacceptable and they will be considered racist. I thought we were over mocking racial differences and discrimination? Now I see we still have a lot of work to do. I think I'll be reading Italian Vogue from now on (well, I can't actually read Italian, but I'll look at the pretty pictures!), who I commend for their all women of colour issue awhile back! What do you think about this issue?

This is...an outrage. I thought they picture was lovely, until you mentioned who the model was! This is very disrespectful.
