Pastels

Shoes! Glorious shoes! They are from the Marie
Antoinette film. I want them so bad. I think
they might be some of the most beautiful pastel coloured
heels I have ever seen!
A scene from the film A Little Princess, this is one of my favourite's
in the movie. It looks so beautiful and peaceful. I love the dresses
which they are wearing, I wish people still wore outfits like this.
People were so much better dressed during 1900's! Now if you excuse
me I'm going to watch A Little Princess.

A Little Princess

What girl doesn't want to be a princess?

The beautiful Gemma Ward, in Vogue (I think?),

she looks like a fairytale princess with that stunning tiara.

This is so sweet and innocent looking, it was in

Lula magazine, she really does make me feel as though

she is a little princess in training.

Lily Cole looks like a princess in Vogue Nippon, one who
looks as though she's been dreaming the day away.

"I am a princess. All girls are. Even if they live in tiny old attics. Even if they dress in rags, even if they aren't pretty, or smart, or young. They're still princesses. All of us."
~ A Little Princess~
A Little Princess is one of my favourite films, and this is one of my favourite quotes of all time. I like to think of it whenever I need a reminder that I'm a princess. Not literally of course, but even if I don't have a title or a land, I can still be a princess! You might think I'm crazy but being real princess is about your attitude and actions. Princess Diana really was a princess, she had a title but she also was kind genuine person. Its all about your character. All girls a princesses, just like Sara Crew say's in the movie.

We'll Always Have Paris

Sorry the picture is sideways, I couldn't rotate
it on my computer. But anyways, I hardly think I need
to tell you what building this is, its one of
the most famous in the world!

Paris, France

The sidewalk street vendor of Paris. They were selling lots
of old music sheets and postcards. I thought it looked
cool and vintage.

Whenever I think of Paris, France I am reminded of my short little trip to the city three summers ago. It was everything suspected it would be like and more! My auntie and uncle kept our visit to Paris a secret from me until a day before we were set to leave, they wanted it to be a surprise! Boy, was I surprised! I was visiting them in England for a few weeks and they wanted to make it extra special so they planned a weekend in Paris. The reason why I've been thinking of the beautiful city is because a friend of mine recently got married and for her honeymoon they went to Paris for two weeks. I was talking to her about her trip and she said that they had the grandest time in the city. Which made me think I better get myself to Paris as soon as possible in order to be reminded why it is one of my favourite cities in the world. But alas, that is impossible since I am stuck here doing homework for classes for Tuesday! So for now, I will just look at my pictures from that fabulous trip and be reminded of all the grand adventures I've had and will someday have!
Jem
P.S. I opened up a fortune cookie today and it read "You are a traveler at heart. There will be many journeys." How perfect is that? It totally describes how I see myself, I always have and always will be a traveler. I could spend every day in a new place exploring the area. So when I am older and have professional job, I always say it has to be one where I can travel a lot.

On Your Mark....

Mark Fast Spring 2010
I will admit, I hadn't herd of Mark Fast until I saw an article on Allure.com about his runway show. He created quite a commotion with putting three "plus size" models in his runway show. These models are sizes 10 and 12's, they are normal sizes for real women but their practically considered huge in the modeling industry. This upsets me since I'm not what you call skinny, I'm normal sized. I love my curves because their real and they give me substance. So to see Mark Fast put some "plus size" models into his show was quite wonderful. It gives me hope that someday all designers will use women who have body proportions which are more realistic of their buyers. Mark's collection was really interesting, he created "bondage" dresses, but put a spin on it. I think my favourite one is the photograph above of the "plus size" model.

Crayon Boxes

Somehow this quote makes total sense to me, even if it is an odd way of saying that you want to find someone who isn't so narrow minded and willing to be different. Its things like this which remind me why John Mayer is one of my favourite singers and songwriters because not everyone is going to get it, it takes a special few who do. Like John, I rather fancy myself to be a 64 colour crayon box, I don't think I could be an 8 colour type, I'm to crazy! haha... I am totally excited for the release of Johns new single and then album which is dropping soon, I will be buying both the day they are released!

Beauty Is In The Eye Of The Beholder

Listen to Franz Kafa's suggestion so you don't
grow old! It's deffently a true statement,
I hope to be forever young, even if I don't
look it!
I am going to make a wish jar, and put all of my
hopes and dreams in it, and then display it prominately
in my room. I think it is a sweet idea.
this picture can be found on ampersandrea.tumblr.com

Henna is so beautiful, it is an art of its own! I've always
thought it would be fun to have henna done on my hands and
feet, just so I might admire its beauty. I think it is such a
wonderful tradition in the Indian culture, it
brings women together, doing something which
has been passed down from generation to generation.
Now that is beautiful!

Why is it that I always want to share with you all my faveorite inspirational pictures and quotes? I can't help it! I love surfing the web looking for news things to interest me. I think I might be addicted! Help! Enjoy the beautiful images anyways, even if I have gone batty with uploading pictures. So this post is dedicated to all which is beautiful in the world.

Pink Mailboxes

One of us is gonna be here and
One of us is gonna be running

Off alone into the great unknown

You're not me, you're a model of freedom

All you need are your kicks when you need 'em

Come and go, caught that slow alright

With one hand off the side

We get farther away in the blink of an eye

And it's the time we waste

Swallowed into space

It's the time it takes to blow away
To blow away
To blow away

Hey, hey you, yeah you gotta be leaving,

Say what you want, what you say, say anything

No one knows just how deep it goes

We are old in your teenaged tyranny

And all you need is a hunger to feed

I've got my own secrets though, say what?

With a heart full of mess and lore

We are doomed but we wanted more

It's the ride we take

The many winged escape

It's the bough we break to blow away

To blow away
And we blow away

One of us is now retreating

You knocked me down so hard I'm seeing a thousand stars

Come out where you are'

Cause I won't ever be caught crying

And I will not be taken lying down

It blows into smoke

The time we waste

Swallowed into space

It's the time it takes to blow

It's the ride we take

The many winged escape

It's the bough we break to blow away

To blow away

It's the times we say that no one's gonna take your place

It's a mistake to blow away

To blow away

We blow away

A Fine Frenzy's new song "Blow Away"

I just love this song, its beautifully written. Actually, I love all of A Fine Frenzy's music, its so poetic and dreamlike. Another thing I love is pink mailboxes with letters wrapped with blue ribbon. This isn't my mailbox, as much as I wish it were, but someday I shall have a grand old house with a long driveway and at the end of it shall be a Cotton candy pink mailbox. I love getting mail, especially letters (and magazines!), but sadly no one writes them anymore. For the longest time I was pen pals with my friend Allie, we would write to each other weekly, telling each other our hopes, our dreams, and everything else in between. The funniest thing was that we only live about five minutes away from each other, not a world away! For us though letter writing aloud us the opportunity to say things that we might not be able to face to face. I think I want to get back into letter writing, it may be considered a dying art with all this facebook, and twitter stuff but I'm going to keep it alive for as long as I can. I mean, who doesn't love getting something in a pink mailbox?

Dreamweavers and Makers

I <3>
dress is so beautiful looking, and I think
her style is crazy unique. This reminds me, I
want to see her film 500 days of summer!
The colours in this photograph are just stunning. I like
the idea of putting images/things on a string, its almost like
an inspiration board. I might have to try this.

This is where I would love to be right now, lying by
the poolside instead of lying in bed trying to get over a
stomach bug!

Dream catchers are always beautiful, I always
have had at least one in my bedroom
ever since I was a little girl. That might have
to do something with the fact that my mom loves
the Native American culture and how in touch they are
with nature.

I don't know why I love this exactly but I do. It might have to do with the
old fashioned cameras in each of the pictures, they look so neat.
So this is another list of things which I love right now. I am so board being home sick from school, that I found my self perusing FFFFound.com, yet again for inspiration.

A Life Lived

Life is too short to wake up with regrets.Love the people who treat you right.Forget about the ones who don't.Believe everything happens for a reason. If you get a second chance, grab it with both hands. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said life would be easy. They just promised it would be worth it.

Seeking Inspiration

The words of this quote are so simple, yet
hold a lot of power and truth to them.

I love maps, and I love this Photograph.
I love looking at a map, picking a point and
going somewhere. It turns it into a grand adventure!

The colours of these little pastry's are enchanting,
they are the perfect colour pallet for all the clothes I dream
of wearing. I always say that when I get back to Paris I am
going to find the Laduree shop and order a box of the beautiful
macaroons. Though they almost look to pretty to eat!

Its all about maps today isn't it? On one hand
I do love maps but I believe once you get to the point
you picked out you need to give the good ol' map a rest.
Some of my favourite adventures have been the one where
I didn't have a clue where I was going.

This is this weeks inspiration for me, I want to live up to the quote, eat a macaroon (even if it isn't Laduree's), create an outfit out of some of the Laduree macaroon colours, look at maps finding new places to travel to, and just get wonderfully lost once in awhile!

The Call

Now we're back to the beginning
It's just a feeling and no one knows yet
But just because they can't feel it too
Doesn't mean that you have to forget
Let your memories grow stronger and stronger
'Til they're before your eyes
You'll come back
When they call you
No need to say goodbye
The Call-Regina Spector
These song lyrics totally sum up how I feel about this school year. Its only the beginning of when school is in session but for me I am already becoming sentimental about it. I think it might be because it is my final year and afterwords when its ended everything changes. At least I can remember everything that's happened, I plan on taking lots of photographs of every event. That way I wont forget! I love this song so much, the lyrics are so beautiful, they make me want to cry every time. Plus Regina Spector is just an amazing singer, I want to see her performance Live, that would be the coolest!

School Daze

The week has just flown by, so much so that I didn't even have time to blog! I think the first week of school is always hectic and crazy, getting use to new teachers, new classes, the dumb no backpack rule ( we are not aloud to carry a backpack to class anymore, how stupid is that?), homework, ect. Its been a good first week of the last year of school for me. I just love my Public Speaking teacher, I had her for AP prep a few years ago, and she is still amazing, as always. Don't you love it when you get a teacher that you simply adore? My creative writing class is interesting, we do unique writing activities. Like today we had to get a Dictionary and randomly pick out a word which was our title and then another random word which was the first word of our short story. It really made everyone stretch their minds in creative ways, for instance mine was about jam (as in the food) and a errant knight. It was a weird combo but I made it work. This weekend seems like it is shaping up to be a busy one with my sisters birthday tomorrow, and Mel's bonfire to attend, and lots of Amnesty International Club planning to do! Happy Weekend to everyone!

California Dreaming

Different world newspapers printed in English posted
outside the Berkley College library. I just thought this was
so cool.
Yummy Japanese chocolate. I just love that it has
a fencing panda printed on it more then the chocolate itself.
So cute!

The lake where we had a picnic in Yosemite. It was so serene
and peaceful. Their was snow on some of the mountains, I have
never seen snow in the summertime, it was so neat!

Yosemite in all of its beautiful glory.

My sister and I just loved this sign. It is featured
all throughout Yosemite National park. In fact
I loved the sign so much that I bought a key chain
with the saying on it (it reminds me when I'm driving!haha).

Windmill's on the way to Yosemite. I honestly think this
might be one the best photographs I've ever taken, and whats
even more remarkable about it is that this was taken from
a moving car going about 65 on the highway (don't
worry I wasn't the one driving when this was taken!)

Such a beautiful quote. What I love about this picture is
that half of it is in a shadow and the other half is in the light,
it fits the quote perfectly.

Chinatown in San Fransisco. We didn't spend a lot of time
their since most of it is cheepo shops which all sell
the same things but I do that a lot of the buildings are
very ornate.

Golden Gate Bridge which was taken on the first day
we arrived in San Fransisco. It is quite a sight to behold.
I've seen it so many times in books an on postcards but
nothing is better then seeing it in person!

This was taken on our way to California a few minutes after
take off. Don't the clouds look so incredibly pillowy soft?
These are just a handful of the hundreds of snapshots from our mother-daughters holiday in California.
